PRE-CARE

As a necessary precaution, please be aware that you may not receive this treatment if outbreak of cold sores is present. It is very important that you are aware that if you are prone to cold sore breakouts, you will experience an outbreak following this treatment.

To prevent or minimize outbreaks, all clients with a history of cold sores MUST take anti-viral medication. Zovirax is recommended and can be obtained from a doctors prescription. This must be taken a total of 7 days. Starting 3 days prior to scheduled appointment. And 4 days after for prevention, or as advised by your doctor and/or pharmacist.

Please bring your favourite lipstick or reference photos of desired lip colour to your appointment.
​

No fillers or injections around the area for up to 4 weeks before and after this treatment.
​

Do not work out 48 hours prior to treatment
​
-
No alcohol for 48 hours prior to treatment
​
-
No caffeine or any other stimulants morning of treatment
​
-
Do not take Advil/Ibuprofen, Asprin, Niacin and Vitamin E 48 hours prior to treatment
​
-
Do not take any fish oil, Evening primrose oil and prenatal vitamins 48 prior to treatment
​
-
Avoid Retin-A and Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) at least 6 weeks prior to treatment
​
-
Please get plenty of rest and drink lots of water to hydrate prior to treatment
​

Please have something to eat before the appointment
LIP BLUSH POST CARE
Please follow the instructions below to achieve the best results

Finish your antiviral medication to prevent outbreak
​
-
Your lips will feel dry, chapped and tender following your procedure. Apply ointment on lips several times a day for 10 days post treatment. Do not allow your lips to become dry. This may interfere with healed color.
​

Apply a light layer of ointment by using dabbing motions. Do not rub it in.
​
-
To prevent swelling, sleep on your back and slightly elevated.
​
-
If you have the habit of rolling on your side or stomach while you sleep, use a satin pillowcase to prevent pigment from sticking to the pillowcase.
​
-
Drink everything through a straw until lips completely peel.
​
-
Wash your face carefully, avoiding the lip area for 10 days.
​
-
Absolutely no picking the lips! It will be itchy, so make sure to not touch.
​
-
Do not stretch the lips. Cut food into tiny bite sizes and place in mouth to avoid stretching of the lips.
​
-
Do not bite into greasy, oily, salty or spicy foods.
​
-
Avoid water on lips as much as possible until the area is fully healed. Make sure to apply ointment on pigmented area to protect from water in shower.
​
-
Avoid underwater swimming for a minimum of 4 weeks to avoid bacterial infections
​
-
Apply ointment on lips before brushing your teeth. Put cotton balls or gauze pads in gum areas so the toothbrush will not rub against lips. Use a small amount of toothpaste. Use a straw to retrieve water to swish with.
​

No whitening toothpastes. No whitening/bleaching your teeth while your lips are healing for about 2 weeks.
​

Do not apply ice directly on your lips. You may apply an ice pack using a clean towel or cloth overtop to act as a barrier and applying on lips for 10 minute intervals for the first 48 hours.
​

Do not workout until lips are fully healed
​
-
No smoking for a minimum of 10 days.
​
-
Do not expose lips to direct sunlight or tanning beds for 4 weeks. This is new skin and will sunburn easily. Any direct sun exposure may result in scarring and alter pigment colour.
​

No kissing, rubbing or friction on newly tattooed area until after 10 days or you may lose pigment.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHILE HEALING

Lips may be dry for 3 to 6 months depending on your body’s reaction to the freshly tattooed area.
​

Expect moderate swelling 1 to 3 days following the procedure.
​

Scabbing may make the lips feel thick. Absolutely no picking.
​

Lips will fade up to 50% after the first 5 days.
​
-
The tattoo will look patchy due to skin regeneration and healing. Please be patient.
​
​
Patience is essential during the healing process. Two or three sessions may be required to achieve desired results.
Lip blush cosmetic tattooing is a multiple-step appointment process with a healing time of approximately 6 weeks in between touch up appointment.
